i am full-time father
half of the time
joint custody
feels like a divorce of my heart
every week
i live in two worlds
one connected and whole
one alone
the problem is
even when they leave
i cannot stop being a father

I remember this feeling when I first separated from my children’s husband. The move was the right one, but the pain of missing my children was awful.
Yeah, it can be brutal sometimes even though we’ve been divorced for years now.
