“I have a theory that the paperwork at doctors’ offices is total busy work to distract you from the fact that after rushing to get to your appointment on time, you are forced to wait 45 minutes before you can see the doctor. There are like 10 pages of redundant questions and fill-in-the-blanks on a clipboard including name and medical history, even though they literally have your name in the system from when you made the appointment, and the referring physician already sent your medical history. They call your name to hand you a paper that asks for your name. Do a lot of people change their names and/or birthdate since the last time they were in a doctor’s office? -Jeannie Gaffigan, When Life Gives You Pears
Oh my goodness! This new book by Jeannie Gaffigan is hilarious!
I already rolling on the floor laughing at her funny quips and outlandish connections. I am really excited to keep reading this book.
I am listening to the audiobook with a forward from her husband, Jim, read by her sister Liz Noth. She read part of the introduction but from the brain tumor and surgery, some of her speech has been affected temporarily.
She talks about struggles of being a mom of 5 and the wife of her goof ball husband, Jim Gaffigan. She talks about her faith in God as a “Shiite” Catholic. Most importantly, she talks about how this potentially tragic tumor in her brain has led her to re-discover what matters most and to re-organize her priorities to live out her remaining time on earth to the fullest.
I can’t wait to read more!
