“Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing,” by Flora Waycott is a fun art book that teaches students to create art by looking at the every items all around them and sketching what they see. She also covers the basics such as a the color wheel, shading, and other techniques for creating specific effects.
Throughout the book, she includes creative prompts meant to spark the imagination and get the student to try something new, such as take a day trip to the park and draw the gazebo or park bench. Another exercise was to draw pieces of clothing in your outfit.
Her style and way of communicating to art students was both informative and empowering, this was a great guide for a beginning artist.

Would this book be helpful for a six year old?

It might be a bit advanced, but it would be a good primer to start with
