2024 Oscar Nominations #Movies #Oscars

The 2024 Oscar Nominations were released today and despite the many movies I saw this year in theaters compared to years past, I admit that most of the “darlings” I haven’t even seen yet. I will have to get on that soon. The big night will occur on Sunday, March 10, 2024 on ABC at 7 p.m. ET. The show will be hosted again by Jimmy Kimmel.

“Oppenheimer” is probably the early frontrunner for Best Picture as it received 13 total nominations, 2 more than “Poor Things” that had 11. “Flowers of the Killer Moon” received 10 nominations and summer blockbuster, “Barbie” received 8 nominations. Dark horse candidate, “American Fiction,” starring Jeffrey Wright, received 5 nominations.

    • As far as Best Picture noms, I’ve seen Oppenheimer and The Holdovers. Both were excellent. I like Oppenheimer to win the Oscar this year. Others I saw in different categories include The Creator, Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Pt 1, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. I hope to see Killers of the Flower Moon, Napoleon, Society of the Snow, Maestro, Anatomy of a Fall, Elemental, Bobi Wine: The People’s President and The Zone of Interest some time before Awards Night. We shall see. It’s an ambitious undertaking.

If I am feeling up to it, I *might* review my favorites some time between now and then 😉
