It’s No Use Going Back to Yesterday #Quote #Inspiration #LewisCarroll

It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.

LEWIS CARROLL

I love this quote by Lewis Carroll. He was the zany author behind “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and its sequel, “Through the Looking Glass.” He wrote poetry in a genre classified as “literary nonsense.” And I love that!

Some of the other creative endeavors he dabbled in include illustrations, photography, and even tried his hand at creating inventions. Later in life, he was also known for his work in mathematics.

To me, his life can be summarized by a life of learning and trying new things and never giving up. He didn’t seem satisfied or content with one avenue but tried them all. Even if he was only known for his books about Alice in Wonderland, which all together are great achievements, he didn’t stop there.

While I do believe the past and the experiences we have shape today, I don’t think what has happened before should be the end all and be all. They are not the final statement on what we choose to do today. Yes, everyone makes mistakes. All of us have regrets about things we cannot change now.

But, today, we can do things differently. We can get back up and try again. We can make a new choice and go down another path. Don’t give up trying, even if the last time things didn’t go as planned. Try again. Put yourself out there (again). You are only limited by the attempts you make (or the ones you do not take).
