This is one of my favorite songs on the “In the Heights” original motion picture soundtrack. There is obvious love and romance involved, but a tinge of sadness that each character knows that if nothing changes, their relationship will not progress.

Anthony Ramos plays Usnavi, a local bodega owner, and Melissa Barrera plays Vanessa, an aspiring fashion designer, in the Washington Heights barrio depicted in the film. Their vocals for the song are spot on. The song was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
