no one wants to be their parents
but sometimes words come out
without a thought of consequences
even so
the moments of reflection afterward
the empathy of being there before
gives pause
long enough to see what happened
awareness to repair the damage done

Great piece. I love how it gets hopeful at the end.

Jason, you used an appropriately powerful word in “empathy.” So much goodness in life radiates from this attitude.

Wonderful writing. It is up to each generation and each individual within to learn and grow and do better that’s all we can do as humans.
