“The truth is that falling hurts. The dare is to keep being brave and feel your way back up.” – Brené Brown, Rising Strong
I read Brené Brown’s book, “Rising Strong” at the end of 2018, after separating from my wife and at a very trying time of grieving in my life. I was crying constantly and my emotions were a complete blur. I found that I was constantly bombarded with thoughts and feelings I had never had before.
I was continuously trying to “check in” on my feelings and figure out what they meant. “Rising Strong,” was an amazing tool to check the story I was telling myself and re-write my future.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone going through difficulty like a failed marriage, a setback at work, and a host of other personal losses to be able to take a step back and listen to your self-talk.
What is it you are telling yourself about the situation?
Challenge those thoughts. Remind yourself about what the truth actually is.
Work through your feelings and emotions and tell yourself a new story. Re-write your future with a new reality of how you will go forth onward and upward.

Thanks Jason. The final paragraph brings it all together. There will be times in our lives when we need to write a new chapter. The older chapter will always be there, but we can live in the moments of the new one we are writing.
