“Drawing: Animals in Colored Pencil” by Debra Kauffman Yaun was a detailed drawing book using colored pencils for drawing some of your favorite animals. Yaun teaches the readers step-by-step ways of drawing proper form, layering and blending so that features like fur, spots, shells all are properly represented, and even discusses stroke types to get the correct look. Each animal she illustrates has five or more iterations of the drawing as it progresses.
Some examples that she portrays include: a rooster, a shetland sheepdog, a squirrel, a horse, an alpaca, a leopard and several other animals. These varied array of animals hopefully would help the artist to attempt other animals with similar features or body forms as you become more comfortable drawing animals.
This book is a great addition to any artist’s library as they learn to draw realistic representations of animals in the world around them.
