God’s Plan for My Life #Journey #Inspiration

It has been a couple weeks since our divorce was signed off by a judge and finalized. In my quiet time, I was rolling around ideas in my head about what my future could look like. Dreams about starting over and what I wanted going forward.

Writing and journaling about goals and plans and expectations are essential to me. It is how I process these things and try to envision my future. Sure, things don’t always go according to plan. Life doesn’t include scripts and director’s notes, instead life is messy and hard. That’s just how things are.

I stopped myself and wrote down a simple question to God, who I was processing these hopes and plans with:

“What do you think, God? What are your plans for my life?”

In some way, shape or form, I have been asking these questions for decades now, probably since high school, when I was looking at colleges and thinking about a career. What is humorous to me now is that God’s answer hasn’t changed.

My question today was about having a future relationship, getting re-married someday, finding love again. His response was deeper than that:

“Being married or having a long-term relationship, that doesn’t ‘make’ your life. Being solo doesn’t make you lesser than others. I am not going to tell you what I have for you. I don’t want you searching for it. I want you to live in wholeness. I want you to be fully present to everything around you. Walk with me. I am with you. Follow my lead. Following me, trusting me, doing what I direct you will result in a fulfilled, impactful life. You will be rich and live a life ‘full of days.'”

Wow! It is a good reminder to continue the journey of walking with God day by day, despite the unexpected detours we come across. Just because life didn’t go how you hoped or expected, doesn’t mean your life is either over or a disappointment or doesn’t matter. No, life is not over until it’s over and each new day, each new experience is an opportunity to live life to its fullest no matter our circumstances.

Be encouraged!

  1. Absolutely beautiful, Jason. 💕xx I believe there is a source that’s looking out for us, though I don’t call it God, but absolutely respect that you do. That ‘source’ often tells me exactly the same thing. So, with that said, I reckon we’ll be okay. It’s been inspiring to watch your growth over the past few months. Good on you! It’s quite clear that God absolutely does have your back. xx

  2. Wow, this is beautiful. It’s always comforting to know that God is always with you, every step of the way, through all the ups and downs. I always keep up the dialogue, always asking the same question too!
