Starting in 1996, National Poetry Month, every April has been celebrated here in the United States and in other places abroad as a literary celebration. It has become the largest of its kind in the world. The occasion is celebrated annually by schools, publishers, libraries, booksellers, and poets honoring poetry’s vital place in our culture.

Corresponding with the National Poetry Month is National Poetry Writing Month or NaPoWriMo (for short). This is a chance when everyone around the world is writing new poetry and sharing it for all to read. Poets sharing your work with hashtag #NaPoWriMo is a great way to get more people to read your work and “meet” you as a poet.

It’s a fun time of the year to write… so what are you waiting for?

🙂
