Have you ever checked out Writer’s Digest?
It’s a great resource for aspiring writers with articles on improving your writing, publishing your work, and finding new ideas. One of my favorite sources to find new information and grow as a writer on the site is Robert Lee Brewer’s Editor blog called Poetic Asides.
Robert Lee Brewer is a Senior Content Editor for the site, a writer, and a poet who offers regular poetry prompts, frequently publishes about poetic forms, offers writing tips for poets, and interviews poets to help fellow poets grow in their craft.
Starting April 1st, Brewer is hosting a Poem-A-Day (PAD) challenge for the month of April, where he posts a prompt every morning (in the Eastern US timezone). I hope to participate most days as I am able and will post them here under the hashtag #PAD with a link on the post to the prompt.
As a writer, I find prompts to be a very a useful “tool” to get my creative juices flowing when nothing in particular is otherwise inspiring me. I also like to try new forms to spark my imagination and improve my writing. I find these challenges both push me and expand my repertoire.
Do you want to join me?
As a writer/blogger, what things do you do that “push” you?
