I was alienated
Lied about and slandered
Behind my back betrayed
My reaction was self-protection
I retreated
Receded into the shadows
Went dark
Keeping close those I trusted
I don’t trust you
I don’t trust your “kind” gestures
How could I?
History tells a story
I can’t open myself to that pain
Hurt and loss one time too many
It has to be like this
We need it to be this way

Yeah, sometimes clear boundaries are so necessary. Have you read the excellent book by the title “Boundaries”? By drs Could and Townsend. life changing for me.

Super good book..solid advice from a Christian perspective. They have a series but the first one is a good place to start…I gave my brother a mini version in his stocking this year! 🙂
