I’ve never been through a divorce myself, although I watched my Mom go through several. It is hard on kids too to feel like you can’t share and enjoy memories when the family splits up because you feel like you have to take sides. I can relate to it from that angle.
I’m so very sorry… I know firsthand just how emotionally taxing a divorce can be. I used writing as therapy. It was good to get things out so I could sort through them better. Hang in there. I promise there is a light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how dark it may seem now.
I know. Just keep trusting the light will eventually flood back in. It won’t be dark forever. I didn’t believe it when people said that to me, but it was true.
Keep it up! It’s amazing how much you can draw from it down the road. So much of what I learned through my own dark time helped shape many of the themes in my novel.
Divorce sucks but new beginnings could provide some permanence? This reminds me of a 6-word story I wrote – I will never get married again. All the best, Jason!

Divorce sucks… one part of it that sucks is all the places you made memories at together that now only bring you pain.

This really grabbed me, having gone through a divorce myself. Such a simple statement, yet so complicated too.
