A sword by his side
A guitar over his shoulder
The warrior poet rides
Over rolling hills
Through amber plains
His passion burns like wildfire
Consuming his spirit
Spreading to others
Drawing them in
To an audacious story
To a valiant purpose
He gives his all
To the weak and broken
He fights injustice
He defends those in need
In the evening glow
Gazing up at the heavens
His melody fills the canyon
Its echo all-encompassing
Changing the atmosphere

A response to dVerse’s prompt: “what’s in a name.”
This one could accompany my mission statement as what I’m all about and who I want to become.
I like the strength of the warrior and the kindness of the poet…very nicely done. I love the last few lines, especially that he ‘changes the atmosphere’ indicative of energy and action…a force to be reckoned with.
Thanks so much! I am glad you liked it. Thank you for sharing your perspective
i feel the rhythm in your poetry, like the lyrics to a song. he gives his all is what a poet is all about
Thanks for the feedback Gina, thanks for reading too!
my pleasure
Thanks for joining us, Jason, as it seems like this prompt does fit your blog’s mission. And you take your name seriously. When you say,
“He gives his all
To the weak and broken”
Then we know we are looking at a true warrior.
Thanks! I loved the prompt
I love this… one of my name also means warrior… and wielding the words is something else than the swords.
Awesome! Thanks for reading, I am glad you liked it
Nice lines and meaning for a name: “He gives his all
To the weak and broken”
Thanks Frank, I am glad you liked it
Love the idea of a warrior poet. Words can change the world. Nice to meet you, Jason. Thanks for participating at dVerse.
Thanks for reading!
Such a vivid setting and strong picture of the main character. The flow feels like a narration and I love the idea of a heroic bard who is not afraid of battle!
Thanks Ethan, I’m glad you liked it
