“When we allow ourselves to appreciate all the unique ways we do things just by EXISTING, we can more readily accept the fact that, yes, we are all inherently creative. Ergo, we can be confident in our ability to create anything. Ipso facto, we already have what we need inside to achieve any creative dream, big or small! Carpe diem and stuff!” -Felicia Day, Embrace Your Weird: Face Your Fears and Unleash Creativity
I love these types of books! (Yes, I used the Comic Sans font in the quote I included in the picture above. No, I am not sorry.)
Felicia Day, New York Times bestselling author of You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost), has written a new book all about creativity and exercises to “unleash” your unique voice.
I find myself reading and “doing” one of these books once or twice a year. Sometimes they are about writing, sometimes they are about drawing or art, and in this case, Ms. Day’s new book is about both. Really any type of creativity.
I love this book so far! It is empowering and encouraging. It is humorous and a little self-deprecating.
The exercises seem “awkward” at first, but that’s the point. I recommend you go get a copy of it if you are struggling with writer’s block or a lack of motivation to create.
Creativity is many times about EMOTION. Sometimes there are blocks that we don’t even realize. What I love about this book is that the exercises are as much geared to exposing and freeing you from your emotional blockages, as it is geared to actually “pushing” you to create.
Go check out this new book and get your creativity in the new year on track!
