When I paint, I don’t normally have an idea in mind for what it will be. It starts with big swaths of paint across the canvas or paper and then we “see where it goes.” I am not sure if this one went anywhere. I don’t really know what it is and that is okay. I am good with this one.

This was a blending exercise I did from Lee Hammond’s book about painting with acrylics. Maybe it looks like the ocean or a river up close. This one I might come back to at a later time to add something to it.

I totally loved the first one coz it is similar to one of my works done more than a decade ago. And yes when I sit to paint I sit and stare at the emptiness of the blank canvas for a while. When it speaks I start painting it’s stories. It’s something only us painters understand. I totally get you!

That’s so cool! Thanks for sharing Lalitha! I am trying to “improve” my painting by learning some of the basics and other techniques

BTW Jason, what do you indulge in, acrylics, watercolours or oils?
