Moving Forward #Journey

Thank you readers and supporters for your words of wisdom and encouragement. Even the blunt, subtle hints of how to move forward have helped. I really appreciate all of you who read and comment on Poems for Warriors regularly.

If you couldn’t tell, I am going through lots of challenging personal issues currently and they have inevitably spilled over into my writing. As I was praying today at my amazing, small church, it is more like a family, who have loved me and my kids through all of this, God was speaking to me about my writing. No, I didn’t hear an audible voice. Yes, it was like a “light bulb” thought in my head, saying, “The reason you write is to be an encouragement to others going through similar tough circumstances. You aren’t writing to have others commiserate in your struggle and to wallow as a ‘victim’ to your circumstances.”

If I am honest with myself (and you), my writing here as of late has been more the latter rather than the former. I want to apologize for straying from my Mission Statement. I am re-committing to righting the ship as it were so I can better encourage others. While much of my writing can be “internal processing,” if I stay there, it becomes unhealthy. I want to see the bigger picture and offer hope and life rather than just complaining.

I know I can do this and again I am so thankful for everyone of you and your participation in any form here.
