Scrambling over sharp rocks
And smooth pebbles
I dip my toes in the frigid waters
The chill a shock
Then refreshment
I wade into the shallows
Waves lap softly
Caressing my feet
I take a deep breath in
Thick, salty air rushes over me
I close my eyes
Sensing relief

It harkens back to my brief stint in New England… they have “beaches” which are stones and rocks and the ocean is cold all year.

That’s what I’ve heard–the folks there must be hardy!!

I tell people that New England is a great place to visit (but I would never live there again) 😀

Is there a lot of depression there, I wonder?

You mean seasonal depression? Yes… there are a lot of people who’ve been there a long time and just accept the bad weather… it’s part of New England’s collective identity

I guess, “seasonal depression”…though it can take root and go on all year, unfortunately. The few people I’ve known from that area are tough, have accepted their climate–as you mention, the “collective identity”. Here in the Seattle area–before “global warming”–we were known for the endless rainy season…and lots of people suffered depression because of it. But that’s hardly the case now–we were dying for some rain, and just recently had a good shower 🙂

Hahaha, well not entirely dried up 🙂 🙂 Have you ever visited here? You’d be welcome to a free meal at my “blessed table” 🙂
