Haiga is a work combining a graphic image (originally sumi-e, brush painting with black ink) with a haiku; in particular, the graphic should not merely be an illustration of the haiku, nor the haiku a caption for the image. Rather, the juxtaposition of the two should lead the reader to experience added insight or resonance.
Let me know how I did on my first haiga in the comments section below. As always, I appreciate the feedback.
🦋 Oh, all these names for poetry types. I just know the basics.
Are my poems with photos called a Haiga?

A Haiga is like a Haibun except that the prose is substituting the prose for the picture. The haiku enhances the prose, they are juxtaposed, it is not a caption.
