Poems for Warriors-Mission Statement

Mission Statement

To use words to bring comfort, hope, and awareness to a broken world.

To use words to fight against injustice, tyranny, and shallow thinking that brings oppression.

To challenge the status quo to imagine a world that could be.

  1. Jason, I wonder if you’re familiar with the pastor/author of Mosaic faith community in L.A.–Erwin Rafael McManus?? Your mission statement made me think of him–I have a couple of his books, both of which I think you’d enjoy and be inspired by: THE LAST ARROW, and THE ARTISAN SOUL. There are lots of great pastor/teacher/authors in the Christian community, but McManus stands uniquely apart from the rest, in my opinion. No obligation, just sharing with you! 🙂

  2. Great Blog you have here! The world needs more of unity and a support system from fellow humans to help one another tackle all these obstacles we all face. War within oneself is as horrible as war within the world. Peace and Bliss to you always!

  3. Dear Jason, I am happy you found and followed my blog, as it may have taken longer to find your blog. I love your mission and your commitment as a warrior! You could fill a 1000 page motivational book with your inspiration! Blessings to you! Jordy

  4. I believe that should be the aim of every poet. I adopted Psalm by Henry Longfellow as my personal anthem – especially these lines (there are actually 9 stanzas) ….

Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
    Funeral marches to the grave.

In the world’s broad field of battle,
    In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
    And, departing, leave behind us
    Footprints on the sands of time;

    Footprints, that perhaps another,
    Sailing o’er life’s solemn main,
    A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
    Seeing, shall take heart again.
