the persistent pattering
of raindrops
soothes my soul
a place of serene peace
satiated in her embrace
heartbeat thudding
raindrops tinkling
the rise and fall
of her breath
syncopated
into one
melody of refuge

  3. Definitely love those last three lines – “syncopated / into one / melody of refuge” Music really is such a refuge and then to tie that to the music of two hearts beating as one while the rain beats on the roof – solid!
